Convert a JPG, PNG, or WebP
Pick one output format and apply it to the image, or to a batch. JPG and JPEG are the same format here. The file type is read from the contents, not from the name.
JPG has no transparency. Transparent pixels are placed on this color. The default is white.

How to convert an image
Add the file first. The format choice appears beside it. There is no account.
- Use Browse files, or drop the image. The page accepts JPG, JPEG, PNG, and WebP. Up to 20 files, each up to 25 MB.
- Choose JPG, PNG, or WebP. That choice applies to every file in the batch.
- JPG shows Quality, starting at 90, from 60 to 95, and Background for JPG, starting at white. WebP shows Quality, starting at 80. PNG hides both.
- Press Image converter.
- Each result shows the original size, the new size, and the dimensions. Download names the format. Download all appears when two or more files succeed.
What conversion changes
Conversion changes how the picture is stored. It does not ask you for a width and height, and it does not aim at a size in kilobytes.
A JPEG saved on its side is written upright, so the stored width and height become the upright picture. A file that is written again does not keep the camera model, the time, or the location. If the image is already the format you chose and you leave Quality alone, the original file is downloaded unchanged. PNG to PNG always does that, because this page has no quality control for PNG.
Which format to choose
Choose JPG when the picture needs to open in the widest set of apps, email, and upload forms. JPG is lossy, and it cannot store transparency.
Choose PNG when you need the transparent pixels, or a lossless copy of the decoded picture. Turning a JPG into a PNG does not recover detail the JPEG already discarded, and the PNG is often larger.
Choose WebP when the place you are sending the file accepts it. WebP here is lossy at the quality you set, and it can keep transparency. It is not always a smaller file. A page built only for that direction is the WebP converter.
Transparency
JPG cannot store a clear pixel. A transparent PNG or WebP is drawn on the background color, white unless you change it. The result says that transparency was placed on that color.
The same picture saved as PNG or WebP keeps the transparent pixels, and the result says so. A flat photo with no transparency is unchanged in that respect.
Quality, file size, and pixels
Quality applies to JPG and WebP. A lower number is usually a smaller, softer file. PNG is written without that slider.
A new format can be smaller or larger. A JPG turned into PNG often grows. A PNG turned into JPG can grow too. Use Compress image when the goal is a size in kilobytes.
The upright pixel size stays as it was. This page does not crop. Use Resize image for a different width and height. An animated WebP contributes its first frame only, as a still image. A GIF is not converted.
Convert, compress, or resize
These three jobs start from a picture and then do different things.
| Compared | Convert | Compress image | Resize image |
|---|---|---|---|
| The job | Change JPG, PNG, or WebP | Reduce the file size | Change width and height |
| What you set | The output format | Quality or a kilobyte limit | Pixels |
| Typical file | JPG, PNG, or WebP | JPG, PNG, or WebP | JPG, PNG, or WebP |
The image is not uploaded
Reading and writing happen in the browser that opened this page. PixZeno does not receive the image for conversion.
If you send the result to another tool on this site, this browser keeps a temporary copy so the next page can open it. That copy stays on this device. Clear images saved in this browser, in the footer, removes it.
Files this page will not convert
A damaged file fails on its own. The other files in the batch still convert. A file is judged by its contents, so a text file renamed to .jpg fails, and a JPEG renamed to .png is still treated as a JPEG.
GIF, SVG, BMP, and AVIF are not converted here. A HEIC photo is not converted here either. That photo belongs on HEIC to JPG. If the only job is getting into WebP, or back out of it, use the WebP converter.
Questions
Can I convert a PNG to JPG?
Yes. Choose JPG. If the PNG has transparent pixels, they are drawn on the background color. White is the start, and you can change it.
Will a JPG become sharper or smaller as a PNG?
No. The PNG keeps the pixels the JPEG already had. It does not restore discarded detail, and it is often a larger file.
Do the width and height change?
The upright picture keeps its pixel size. A sideways JPEG is written upright, so the stored width and height can swap. This page does not resize to a size you type.
What if the image is already that format?
If you leave Quality alone, the original JPG or WebP is downloaded unchanged. PNG to PNG is always the original file.
Is the image uploaded?
No. Conversion runs in your browser. A temporary copy can stay in this browser only if you send the result to another tool.
Can I convert a HEIC photo here?
No. Add it on HEIC to JPG. This page converts JPG, PNG, and WebP.
